In September, 2004, Gigi and I went to Hong Kong together. Well, she went earlier and I joined her later and we came back together. I spent 11 days there staying with her family and meeting many of her friends. It was stressful at times, but it was fun. It was a little different than the year that I lived in China, partly cause this is Hong Kong.
Here are Gigi and I in Repulse Bay, on the backside of HK island.
This was a familiar sight throughout the trip....Gigi beating me up....
This is a part of Gigi's family. Her sister, Betty, is at the bottom, her brother-in-law is on the top right. Her neice, Zi Yan, is on the middle right. Gigi's mom is in the middle and Gigi is on the left. I'm guessing you can figure out which one is me. (I'll give you a hint....look at the hair.)
In the back is two of her friends from Hong Kong, Bonnie and Gloria. On the bottom is Gigi, her mother, and her mothers boyfriend.
Here are some more of Gigi's friends.
Here I am between two beautiful Hong Kong ladies....
Even better yet....here I am with three beautiful Hong Kong ladies....
Gigi and I took an afternoon to go hiking. Here Gigi is just admiring the Hong Kong hills.
Our hike started at the largest outdoor sitting Buddha (they have many classifications of the largest ...something... Buddha).
A nice monastery we passed through on our hike.
Unfortunately, this being Hong Kong with its endless development, there was a helicopter going back and forth. It was a little annoying.
At the bottom of the hike, we found a nicely developed area. There are all government subsidized housing.
While there, we stopped by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and spent an evening with two of my former students from Shenzhen.
Gigi found a good deal on flights and it included a roundtrip ticket from HK to Bangkok, so we had a nice three day vacation in Thailand. Here she is posing with the well known character from a US based fast food chain that happens to be bowing in the friendly Thai way.
This was a wonderful dinner (and very cheap).
What would a trip to China be without playing some Ping Pong.
A silly picture of Gigi's sister, Angela, Gigi and I.
This is a reminder to everyone to brush your teeth everyday (preferably multiple times).
A cute and silly picture of Gigi.
Gigi and I in the airport on the way home. A tiring, but very good trip.
return to: overall home or pictures home.
